    I just plugged them in on the sockets at side of our jvc main tv changed to av ch. and they worked.

    Right I didn't realise your main TV has AV in.

    Try changing the new modulator 1 channel at a Time and retune the remote TV to the new channel.

    On thing we know is the amplifier is not the issue.

    Does the modulator have a switch that you can select PAL from. No colour suggests it's not set to PAL. Perhaps contact the makers customer support.

    Found the manual It is preset to UK PAL I so colour should be no problem.

    Got new game just the same, he will have to have it in B&W all the others are ok.
