Hi new member on here hoping someone can help. Though not expecting much with this issue.

Had my Humax HB-1000S a long time and all of a sudden it decided to fail. I purchased a secondhand one which works great, however my external harddrive from the previous one with all my recordings are showing in the menu as normal, even shows unplayed recordings. However when you press play the screen goes black and won't play any recordings. Is this now complete loss of the recordings or is there anything I can do to get them to play. ? Thanks for any help.
(Edit meant to say with black screen the time line still does show )

Only the box that recorded the content can play the recordings back.

For the HB-1000S all recordings are written to the hard drive as encrypted. The encryption key is linked to the HB-1000S that made the recordings.

To play your old recordings you will need to get the original box repaired, or crack the encryption. I haven't heard that anyone has cracked the encryption on the HB-1000S.

Thank you very much that explains that problem. I appreciate your time in replying.
