I'm only now getting round to buying a modern hd tv and have been thinking that I really need to get a more up to date pvr (not to mention that my 9300 has that skipping problem and I haven't yet got around to doing a full format on the drive).

I was looking at the manual today and noticed that it came with an hdmi lead (I wonder where that is now?). So does that mean that it can record hd broadcasts and I could watch them on an hd capable tv? Otherwise, why the cable?

    Thanks.

The recorder is SD only. It is capable of upscaling SD and outputting over HDMI. Any HD TV will also upscale SD so apart from the convenience of a hdmi connection it's not particulary usefull.

A DVB-T2 tuner is required for Freeview HD in the UK. DVB-T2 didn't exist when the 9300 was launched.
