    Hi folks.

After months of deliberation, we have just bought a Foxsat-HDR 320Gb for £189.99 from Argos. At this price it was too good to miss. This may be their last stock of 320Gb boxes, as we seem to have got the last one left in the south west of England!

Anyway, the Humax has repaced our old Nokia Sky box, which we were using to receive the free Sky channels. I am impressed with the Humax so far, but I may have a question or two shortly.

    Regards,
    Reg.

I bought my humax 320gb hdr last week from argos as I'm in the process of ditching sky, still got a couple of weeks before my sky contract comes to end so not been fully using the humax yet, but so far my experience of the humax isn't great, not as user friendly as the sky hd box and had the epg freeze on me, I guess I'll have to get used to it, but so far preety underwhelmed. I got rid of sky to save some money but wonder if I shouldn't have bothered with a freesat recorder.

Welcome Mark. Make sure your HDR has the latest software installed.

Its funny you should say about the EPG freezing on you, as this has just happened to mine. I had to switch the unit off and on at the back to recover.

To be honest, this is the first negative experience I have had so far, and it isn't a big one if it doesn't happen frequently. I have come to the Foxsat HDR from plain old freesat from Sky, so haven't really had any other experience of PVRs, but the Humax box has been a revelation to me!

The EPG on our HDR has frozen twice more recently, requiring a power cycle each time. We don't even use the EPG that often.

This is a niggle that could do with sorting, assuming it is a firmware bug and not a fault with some boxes.

Erm, no. Where does it say about the EPG locking up?

    Thanks for letting me know.

EPG locking up is mentioned in post:

    http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/leaked-foxsat-hdhdr-beta-upgrade-10018

Version 18 has (apparently) only been available upon request as a pre official beta. The official release is version 20. The release notes state "Hang-up improvements", this almost certainly refers to the hanging up (locking up) in the EPG guide.
