    Hi,

    I bought an FVP4000T 500GB Mocha a couple of days ago after my trusty HDR FOX T2 packed in (HDMI failure, so at least I can still access the recordings over DNLA).

    This might be old news, although nothing came up in a forum search, but on my new box the position of the LED is on the underside of the unit in the centre position rather than on the right hand side of the front face. I also note that it uses a purple colour to indicate when it is recording rather than red, which seems to have been a common complaint in the past.

    This minor redesign doesn't seem to have been discussed so maybe it's quite a recent thing?

    Cheers,
    Grant

    Welcome to our Forum

    Thank you for that insight. Looks like they are now using the a similar casing as freesat products:

    I find the LED next to useless in that position.

    It does seem to be a curious design decision. Fortunately I have my Humax sitting on top of a shiny black Blu-Ray player and the reflection of the LED is clearly visible on that.

    just out of interest,
    which version of software is on the machine?

    I'd always assumed the LED colour was software controlled, presumably it still glows red on standby and blue when switched on and in use?

    Yes, that's correct.

    red = standby
    blue = switched on & not recording
    purple = recording

    I'll check the software version for you when I get home this evening.

    Barry,
    Can you throw any light on the led colours? (pardon the pun)
    If the effect was down to software changes wouldn't everyone on 1.01.49 have purple for recording?
    David.

    thanks for the confirmation,
    I'd assumed the LED colour was software controlled as it has been on older models.
    Clearly it's a different design, it was just interesting to know which version of software just in case there was something in the pipeline

    David.

    Can only assume the LED in 'Mk 1' units is 2 colour only.

    Usually purple is achieved by illuminating the red and the blue led's together.
