Lock protecting recordings

After recently purchasing my HDR-1100S PVR I discovered an issue with the EPG's lock protection feature for recordings. The EPG has a well written "Q & A" help section on "recordings" which clearly States the following:

"Can I lock my recordings? - Yes! no one wants to come home to find that their recordings have been deleted. You can set the status of your recordings to "keep" which will require your PIN code to delete it."[i]

I have done what is asked above, but even with my PIN enabled I can still delete my recordings. It doesn't even prompt for a PIN, it just deletes the 'kept' recording. It is quite clear in the Q&A that I should be able to protect any of my recordings from being accidently deleted. My concern here especially is if my children inadvertently delete one or more of my recorded TV episodes or series.

Is there something else in the settings I need to change to get this lock to work? Some assistance on solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I have the 1000s (same/similar software afaik), sounds like you're talking about the "KEEP" function, which basically puts a little padlock next to the recording which does absolutely nothing.

The lock/keep option is to stop certain recordings getting automatically deleted by the box when the hard drive gets too full, if you have that option activated in settings.

Basically it is for people that can't be bothered to delete recordings they don't want anymore but can be bothered to put a padlock next to the ones they do want to keep.

The first gen Humax Foxsat can stop recordings from being deleted with a pin code. The 2nd gen models have software developed by Freesat.

    Thanks for the reply.

This is an awful oversight by Freesat IMO. Even my 7-year-old 9150T was able to individually protect recordings. It seems retrograde not having this function included in the newer models' EPG. Manual locking makes perfect sense especially where children are concerned. I really wanted this for my added peace of mind.

Are there any plans for Freesat to update their current software to include this feature in the very near future? It'll be a real shame if they don't.

No chance, Freesat think that their software/UI is perfecto.

Ah well, so much for "technological improvement" in our lives.
