Thanks for your comments and I am now beginning to understand a little more about the problem. Regretfully I am rather hopeless when it comes to keeping up with new technology, however I am trying my best at not just rolling over and becoming a 'Luddite'!
These things are fine when it's all working correctly but a pain in the butt when anything goes awry.
