    hi

Not quite sure what's happened to our HDR1000s but when watching something on iPlayer last week, it suddenly froze completely. Left it for a while and it seemed to reset itself. However, we were then stuck with 3 problems:
    1) all of our recordings have gone
    2) we cannot record anything (starting a record does nothing)
    3) no on demand or showcase (as per the well known Freesat issue).

Any idea what we should do now? Have tried the various fixes for issue (3) as well as factory resets. Issues 1 & 2 indicate something else though.

    Thanks

    Richard

Ps conspiracy theory - had a call that day asking me to come back to Sky!

I would hazard a guess that you have tried disconnecting power for a while then reconnect.

HDD issue is the obvious, you could try a disc clean up and/or reformat from the system menu.

    Hi

Yes tried powering off for a while. No luck.

Looking at what it says on the storage menu, this indicates the HDD isn't being recognised doesn't it?

"Storage: connect a USB HDD to the box to be able to record programmes and pause live TV"

How do I get to this system menu / reformat?

    Many thanks

    Richard

It sounds like the presence of the disk is not being detected.
So you will not get the option to reformat.

Think I would ask for a replacement from your supplier. How old is it?

    Hi,
    This seems a familiar symptom!
Our box has played "silly" twice now this month.
Go to view our recordings and it says that we have no recordings.
Last evening, whilst the box was saying no recordings, I attempted to direct record a channel using the red "R" whilst in the EPG.
It did not record, and when I retirned to the EPG (during the programme) it did not show as being set to record!
Putting the box in stby, leaving for several mins and then switching on resolves the problem.
I have mow performed a disc cleanup to see if that cures.

Any thoughts anyone - hope the HDD is not on the way out.

    TIA

Seen this a couple of times on my venerable box. I would make a note of your recording schedule (hint if it's long use a digital camera to photograph it) and then do a reset to factory defaults.

    Graham,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
Am I correct in saying that a factory restore will not lose recordings, only the schedule?
Has your box only played up since the 4th Nov update, because ours never exhibited these symptoms prior to that?
Also I seem to recall that the "On Demand" and iPlayer issues reared their heads after that time to.

It won't lose recordings. Not played up recently (talking many months ago) other than the widely reported issues with OD. My box happened to be unaffected by the change, however it has been since freesat started playing with their servers.

    Thanks Graham,
Guess I'll just wait until FreeSat have finished messing around.

Afaik they have and the issue is now resolved for those affected with a software update from Humax The issue didn't have the problem you have anyway (only missing On Demand, Showcase and the backwards epg).

Barry has posted asking if anyone is still affected.

Your problem isn't the same, I would do the reset and see if your problem persists.

If it does you may have to format your hard disk (Which will delete your recordings, which of course will the same effect as returning your box for a replacement)
