We suffer appalling broadband it averages about 0.8 mb. I note on the box that the HDR 1000s needs 2mb. Now I am prepared to accept that TV internet streaming may be off, {the occasional download overnight is likely).
Do you think it will work for me or is it just a NO for this product in my location.

It works fine as a set top box with no broadband connection at all. Mine's often unconnected, due to competition for router ports. If I recall correctly, the recent update arrived over the air.

That's good to know. You prefer freesat to Freeview? I will probably need a dish etc.

    You'll certainly need a dish.

I use both Freeview and Freesat. I have the single-tuner freetime box so I use Freeview for watching live and for recordings when I get a conflict.

I have a 10 yr old Topsfield 5800, I just love the way you can scoop off recordings via USB. Also the skins (taps) are excellent. They just used cheap capacitors in the power unit, so death is imminent. Hence the research.
