i was using the tevion hd sr 600 box for freesat until today when my new humax arrived. i could get the horror channelas well as a few others on my tevion but the humax says the signal is not strong enough. any ideas why it cannot pick them up.

I'm no expert here, but, could you be more specific as to which channels you're missing. As for signal strength, try to remove satellite cable from the box and see that central (copper) wire is clean (not greenish color), not bent and long enough.
Bear in mind, that Humax freesat is with "free time", so we get set amount of channels. See this post.

The Horror & Horror+1 channels are on Freesat, so if you are not getting them you have a reception problem. Either dish or cable.

Try a factory default and see if it gets them after.

What signal level does the HB-1000S show. Some tuners may be less sensitive than others (Humax tuners are usually very sensitive).

Both these channels are on Eutelsat 28A (at 28.5E) which is different from the vast majority which are at 28.2E so perhaps the dish is optimised for 28.2E or a tad west of it.

Speaking about signal levels; When I first plugged in my Humax box signal was about 2/3 green and quality (or what ever the other one is) was just past 1/2 green. But I had no picture quality issues. However, just yesterday I was looking for something in the settings menu and noticed that both bars were 100% green, even though, I haven't touched the box since initial connection. So, my guess would be, that if your levels are half or above, the missing channels probably due to something else.

(dish is optimized for 28.2E or a tad west of it?)
Since, I take, you have no picture quality problems on any other channel?

Signal level will vary according to channel as more than ` satellite position is involved.
