Hi Barry... I noticed in one of your posts that you are using a Nano Router. Which one do you use and recommend?

Not sure I would recommend as it is not straight forward to set up - if you are not familiar with these things.

Link to one I am currently using on HB 1000S

Included instructions are useless, but found this after a search:

    I bought this one...

    TrendNet Nano Router

Cannot testify to long term reliability/quality as I have only just got it, but can say that it comes with very comprehensive, clear and simple instructions. The "Router" function is literally plug n play.

    Barry,

I purchased the TP-LINK TL-WR702N N150 Wireless Cable Router you are using to connect my Humax Freesat hdr to the net, but I am having no joy. First I should mention it is a Chinese packaged version I obtained from a dealer on Ebay.

I have tried setting it up in client mode FAQ 395. It connects to My Netgear router but fails to connect to internet. The TL-WR702N setup page http://192.168.0.254/ often fails to respond with some settings and a hard reset is required.

Is it possible to post a idiot's guide to setting this unit up for Freesat use, before I opt return it, or use it as a tiny doorstop).

    Welcome to the Forum Colin

Accessing settings as per the IP you have posted works every time for me with default username/password.

These are the software versions listed in basic settings:

    Firmware Version: 4.18.107 Build 121123 Rel.31456n

    Hardware Version: WR702N 1.0 00000000

    Thanks Barry,
the software on this unit differs:
    Firmware version 4.19.1 Build 130528 Rel.52704N
    Hardware Version WR702N 1.0 00000000

I notice the FAQ ID 395 includes the warning
Note: This FAQ is only suitable for TL-WR702N with firmware version 130314 or older; it is NOT suitable for 130528 or later version. I can't see any link for later versions or think why the setup would be different.

After a bit of googling it would appear others have had problems with your firmware version and eg Samsung TV's

I do not have this option/setting in my nano routers settings, but maybe you could try on yours...

If you can get access to the router setup then under wireless you should have an option for 'WDS Mode' - if so try changing it from Auto to 3 Addr

    Barry,

Tried the WDS mode 3 Addr setting and the results appeared the same. However, I tried unit on the Humax and it works OK. When it's connected to my PC via the ethernet cable it just shows as local connection only (ie no internet). I'm a bit baffled but at least it appears to be working now, than the main thing.
