I have discussed all these issues at length with Humax Technical Support, to be point where is became clear that I understand more about Windows network protocols than they do, which does not fill me with confidence that the new firmware will address all the issues.

The people who do technical support are very definitely not the people that develop the software.

Another File Server NAS issue I have encountered is if the unit is recording and I turn it on(yep it turns on but the light stays red) the Server does not show up on other devices. Restarting the Server has worked on the one occasion I have tried.

Yes. The media server, SMB server and probably FTP server all have to be re-started manually. I have advised Humax.
