    Afternoon all,

New to the forum needing help!

I have a HDR-1000s which has had intermittent HDD faults. Turning off and on has always worked to bring back the recordings.

Anyway, the HDD appeared to stop working. I have replaced with a 1TB WD HDD as assumed the HDD had died. The box doesn't recognise it when powered on.

Could it be a knackered SATA controller and not a faulty HDD?

    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

    Chris

This is well know fault that you could have found out about with just a modicum of research on this Forum. It isn't the SATA controller that has failed but another component on the motherboard (some reports suggest a resistor). Humax were offering a fixed price repair for the problem at a cost of £26 but this has now been replaced by an offer of refurbished box for £55. Talk to Humax support; slightly tricky as you have opened the box.
