New remote not working for my 4000T

My old RM-L08 remote started playing up so I bought a new one and it will not even turn on my Human 4000T - its exactly the same remote as my previous model but it just wont do it using the top right button - on my original remote if I press and hold the top right standby button it flashes once and turns the humax on but on this one it just keeps flashing and does nothing....any ideas ?

It was a cheap 10 quid one off Amazon but had a ton of good reviews but I could easily return it and get a Humax one for 25 from Remote Controls Shop....but just feel I am missing something easy....

Using the old remote check it is set to mode 1.

Tried that and nothing, the power button didnt stay red ! - I just dont understand why out of the box this remote does not turn on my Human box.....- I think ive spent enough time on this - I will just return and get a " proper" one from Remote Controls shop I think.
