    Hi

I'm considering buying the Humax HDR-FOX T2 and using an attached usb hard drive for my music files.

Now I know the music search function on the humax is a bit rudimentary.

Does anyone know if I would be able to access / control the usb music files on the humax via my pc using twonky?. Humax will be network to the wireless router.

or is the music search function on the humax useable?

    Welcome to the Forum

Not sure what you are trying to achieve so bear with me:

    1. Can you confirm it is definitely the HDRT2 you are thinking of buying as you have posted this in the HD T2 section (not a problem it can soon be moved)

    2. You are correct in that music playback functions are limited, and there is no search function.

    3. Not sure re Twonky as I do not use it, but you can ftp to an external HDD attached to a HDR T2.

    Thanks Barry

Yes you are right - it is the HD T2! Was a big boggle eyed from too many forums last night.

Maybe was asking for too much. I have an old topfield and looking to replace it. At the same time I've transferred all my music to a usb hard drive.

I think possibly I need to get a dedicated music streamer something like Squeezebox - but the Humax is so close to what I want.

A dedictated PVR but the ability to access the music (via tv and attached home theatre speakers). I know the humax can do this - but have seen the interface, and if you can't search it proves difficult to use. I have a laptop and was thinking that if I could connect to the Humax via something like twonky (as Humax is DLNA compliant) then I would you the laptop to select music / playlists etc as they have quite a nice interface.

The other options is creating a dedicated server / home network (which I haven't got currently, just my wireless router). Or getting something like the WD Media streamer attached to the USB hard disk of music and leaving the Humax just for the tv recordings only.

But given my usage is quite basic (some music and some tv recording now and again) using just the humax together with an external hard drive of music would have been just perfect.

Just the limited search function scuppers that plan!
