Humax Freesat 1000S/101S - Samsung UE55HU8500. Using either remote or TV remote pressing off turns of both tv and freesat, therefore cannot record overnight unless TV left on. Using Freesat remote - turn on does both. Any help please.

Turning off the Freesat (that is putting it into standby) does not prevent it recording. It is designed to spin up and record when in standby and a recording is scheduled.

Turn off Anynet+ on the TV which is responsible and reboot the TV then the Humax.

As Pollensa said, the box records while in standby so no need to be left on fully all the time when your not watching anything.
As for the box turning off when you turn off the tv, you can prevent this by turning off your tv's HDMI-CEC (Anynet+) for the selected HDMI source.
