Occasionally channel 4 has picture tearing and sound problems with recordings. We do not have any problems with other recordings. We have an attenuator between the aerial and Humax 4000t with signal strength at 70 - 75% and 100% signal quality. We rarely watch live tv via the Humax. Does any one have any suggestions please?

Slightly unusual problem. I would suggest doing a careful inspection of the aerial cabling looking for kinks or poorly made joints. Also make sure the HDMI lead and the aerial lead are kept as far apart as possible.

If it was a signal problem, it should be affecting other channels like ITV and Ch5.

So what is unique about Channel 4 then? The OP hasn't told us what other channels he records and plays successfully.

That is what I was wondering.
