I have had this machine from new since 2011. It is set to update automatically but is still on Hardware version REV 1.0 and Software version HPTTF 1.00.26 from July 7 2011. Should I assume there have been NO updates over the last 4 years or have I missed something? I can't persuade it to update manually.

No updates I am afraid and I very much doubt that there will be any in the future.

Thanks bmax and Martin, it's quite an old machine but goes on working ok. I'm about to replace my stone age Sony TV with a Samsung UE32H6200 smart TV and wonder if the Humax will accept the changes?

Yes should be fine although the picture quality over SCART won't be as good as could be achieved by a more modern PVR over HDMI.
