    First Post:

Just cancelled my Sky+ contract and I've got while 23rd Nov
to get some sort of Freeview/Sat to replace it.
my question is- Can the Sky+ do anything that the Humax 1000S can't do as to recording etc.

    Thanks

Hi welcome to the forum, apart from being able to record subscription channels no, apart from say being able to set recordings remotely. In fact without some sort of subscription it can't record at all

Last time I checked it was £10.00 a month minimum. And by the way it will cost around £20.00 a year extra to run in your electricity bills.

    HDR-1000s 0.5W in sby, Sky + about 22W.

The Humax box will of course give you HD, Sky+ is a SD box unless you mean a Sky-HD box.

    Thanks for the info.

I have decided on the 1000s but all the usual outlets are sticking to the RSP at the moment...£280.00

No doubt when I purchase the price will come down the day after !!
    Thanks again.

I bought mine to replace Sky+ and I'm very happy with it so far. Quiet, quick and effective.

Have a hunt for vouchers or specials. I had £10 off RRP via mail order from a well known electronics store. Then when they messed up the order twice I got another 10% off.
