just took delivery of a FVP 5000T and already I am beginning to wonder if I have made a mistake as as far as I can see there is no way to record something as easily as the 1800T it has replaced.

With the 1800 you could search for a program via a keyword and then set to record from that menu.

    Or am I missing something?

There's a search button on the remote. Above OK and to the left.

No problem - You may have noticed it also includes On Demand services from the catch up services integrated into the backwards epg

    See our faq's

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/new-improved-search-function

If you record HD from the main PSB Mux it has the ability to record most anything from the 5 channels on there using a dodge to use a reminder on the 5th channel using the time shift buffer to create the recording after one of the other 4 recordings has finished.

If only they could pep up the responce to the remote it would be by far the most versatile Freeview recorder there is.

I've used a FVp-4000T and it was zippy. Do you have another Humax remote you could try it with?
There were issues with some batches of both of Humax's FVP handset models.

I can try it with a Logitech Harmony

Will let you know if it makes any difference.
