Just found the forum after having problems with my RM-F01 remote and cant thank you all enough for the helpful information.
I wouldn't have chanced taking it apart without this knowledge and although I didn't have any specialist cleaner I used a drop of methylated spirits which has worked a treat.
I now have a perfect remote and have saved myself about £30!
    Thanks again!

Hi,thank you very much for the informative thread and guidance relating to the Stripping and Cleaning of the RM-F01 remote. I followed your instructions and 5 minutes later my remote is back up and running like new. I used methylated spirits and cotton buds to clean the insides and allowed the spirit to evaporate before putting the remote back together; which seems to have worked just fine.
    Kind Regards

Been through the above excellent advice a couple of times but never really solved it for me. What I found was a slight design fault in that the "OK" button has a larger rubber ring around the usual rubber contact. The ring does not make a contact so as the contact wears down the outer ring more often than not prevents good contact. Gently removed the outer ring - I used a crafting knife and a lot of patience - and now it's as responsive as all the other buttons. Better than new!
