I have bought this product this morning but cannot get it to go past the 'installation wizard'.

Out TV is old and does not have a HDMI socket but we were told in store that it would work via a scart cable which we have connected. Could this be the reason it is not working or is it our lack of tech knowledge? Are we missing something?
    Thank you, jenjen

The 1000S works fine with a SCART connection so there is something else causing the problem.
What exactly do you mean by cannot get it to go past the 'installation wizard'. Describe in detail.

Thanks for prompt reply. The words 'Installation Wizard' scroll across the Humax but we cannot get any thing else. We have tried both scart sockets but both the same. We have changed scart leads as well. We have the aerial connected from tv to wall socket, is that right. We know that the satellite dish is working ok.

Your terrestrial TV aerial plays no part in this, it being connected to the aerial input of the TV should be inconsequential. I assume you have at least 1 co-ax connected from the satellite dish to the input1 of the 1000S, ideally 2 co-axes one to each input? In what way have you determined the dish is working OK? If you want the folks here to advise you then describe all in detail.
EDIT: just realised from re-reading your post that you are seeing the 1000S display and, presumably, not the TV display. So you are not getting a video signal thru the SCART? That being the case have you switched the TV to that particular AV input?

Both of the Sky cables are connected but we just turned everything off and swapped the cables round and when switched back on welcome to free sat very briefly appeared on screen but now the same as before. Prior to buying this Humax we had a Sharp Tivo HDD and a Panasonic sky box connected. The sky box was used prior to freeview but we still used it to listen to the cricket on the radio as the radio on tv not good. We did use it for TV last week. The Sharp HDD recorder packed up on us last week.
The remote control turns the Humax on & off ok but it would seem that the Humax and the TV are not talking.

So are you not seeing anything on your tv screen? Have you tried pressing the AV button on the TV remote to select the scart output?

Thanks for all your help, we now have the welcome screen!
We changed the scart to AV2 as before but it has worked this time.
We are not connecting it to broadband, will that be an issue?
    Thanks again.

According to the packaging broadband is a requirement, but I'm not entirely sure if thats just for the on demand services or if the EPG requires it or not.
I would like to think that the box will work fine for channels, but obviously you won't be able to use BBCiPlayer,ITVPlayer,4OD,Demand 5 & YouTube.

The EPG does not require it. It's only required for OD, or for an alternative means of updating, rather than OTA.

It appears to be working ok, thanks. We may connect to broadband at a later date. So far impressed with the Humax. Really appreciated all the help.
