Signal Strengths on Tuner 3 Lower Than 1 & 2?

I checked the signal strength for Channel 107 (BBC News HD) tonight as this is my weakest (CH55 - COM7) and it was on Tuner 3, due to some recordings on 1 & 2, at 30% Strength, 100% Quality.

When the same channel is on Tuners 1 & 2 it sits at 50% Strength, 100% Quality. I checked some other channels and all reported a 20% loss in signal strength on Tuner 3.

I have a signal attenuator which reduces the signals for the strongest channels (BBC HD) from 99% to 75% which fixed constant No Signal problems in recordings. The attenuator (SAC&tag=blusas008-21 Attenuator) is located between the 5000T and the wall plate.

I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour for Tuner 3 or is there another reason for the 20% signal loss?

    Many Thanks

Had a look at this to see if there is some internal attenuation involved in splitting the signal to the 3 tuners.

A 3 way passive split would reduce the signal strength by approx 6dB.

I tuned to the 3 different mux with no recordings to get a measurement with no recordings.

    BBC 1 HD Strength 90% Quality 100%
    BBC 1 SD Strength 85% Quality 100%
    ITV 1 SD Strength 84% Quality 100%

Started a recording on ITV 1 SD (Tuner 1)
Switched to BBC 1 SD started second recording (Tuner 2)
Switched to BBC 1 HD started 3rd recording (Tuner 3).

The two SD channels (Tuner 1 and 2) showed same figures, tuner 3 (BBC 1 HD Signal strength up from 95% to 100%, quality still at 100%.

As expected there is a small gain amp to recover splitting losses.

Perhaps try increasing the strongest mux to around 90%.

I checked the signal strength ... on Tuner 3 ... at 30% Strength, 100% Quality.
When the same channel is on Tuners 1 & 2 it sits at 50% Strength, 100% Quality.

Strength is pretty irrelevant - the important thing is Signal Quality and you are getting 100%.

    Don't worry.
