Are you saying it's possibly on the HB-1000s to record a program & watch another program simultaneously ?

How about recording a program & watching a recorded program at the same time (as is possible on say a Virgin TIVO) or would you need 2 HDDs plugged in for this 1 recording & 1 being used for playback

It's possible to record one and watch another on the same transponder, and at a guess so is watching a recording while recording (no tuner required). Not sure about accessing a different drive while recording. I don't have the box so can't test this one out.

As an aside a Foxsat-HDR even with only a single cable and the custom firmware can record two (some restrictions on the second), and at the same time replay a recording locally. While all this is going on you can also stream up to 3 or 4 different recordings to other kit with DLNA client capability.

A TIVO having 3 tuners and an internal HDD does have somewhat of an advantage

    Thanks Graham

When I get my spare drives finally sorted out I will try the 2 drive option & post results.
