For some reason on my foxsat hdr, channels 301 to 507 have no onscreen info or EPG entries and neither does channel 5.

    Channel 5+1 is correct.
I did a power cycle with the on/off on the box and with the mains switch but it didn't help.

    Any idea what's causing this?

the guide completes normally and smoothly but info is missing.

I haven't been powering it down overnight - might that be a factor?

Yes you will have missed all the epg changes from the time you left it on 24/7.

Make a note/photograph your schedule and do a freesat re-tune.

If that fails you may need to do a factory reset.

Alternatively make sure it's in sby overnight tonight so the overnight housekeeping can run.

Thanks Graham. I'll try the overnight option first.

Would a factory reset wipe my recordings?

No just resets every user setting back to defaults (box volume for instance). Not sure why you leave it on, however you could set a power off for say 03:00 and power on 05:00. Housekeeping boots the box at 04:00 BST.

You do release all the time it's on the box writes and re-writes to the same area of the hard disk (The time shift buffer file), which is bound to create issues eventually.

The reason I leave it on is that I'm disabled and if I'm in bed but can't sleep I'll watch a recording using raydon's software. It's not easy for me to get downstairs to turn the box on if it's been switched into standby.

I've just set it for 0300/0500 as you suggest and we'll see how that goes.

    Thanks, Graham.

You can turn the box off using the Webif remote, assuming you haven't gone to sleep of course

but I don't think I can turn it on with the webif remote, can I? Nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night and getting bored...

Correct. Though you could rig a wireless ir remote extender to boot the box remotely and also control it if you take the remote with you (or buy an extra one).

    eg
