Spurious recordings

    Hi,
My first time here. I have a 2000T which has started recording programs which have already been recorded when repeat programs are being transmitted on air. The original recordings have not been series recorded. This is a big problem due to these spurious recordings blocking otherwise vacant recording channels.
Any ideas or am I missing something?

    Best wishes

Some channels (eg Sony movies but not excluded to) often use the same code for each time a film is broadcast. This means that, if you are not careful, you can end up with the same film being recorded several times (with no series link necessary). Same can happen with some series linked documentaries (Ed Stafford as an example) where the whole series can be repeated several times over a few weeks and you can end up with 30 episodes (6 repeated 5 times).
This has caught me out quite a few times.

Yes I too have had that problem sometimes. I'm sure it's a tv code error rather than the fault of Humax.

I wonder if these are programmes on some of the "minor" channels. Some of these are identifying programmes as split when they are not. Then the repeat comes along and the programme gets recorded again as part of the split. If this is the case the fault is two fold. The broadcaster shouldn't be identifying the programme as split when it isn't. The Humax should ignore the split, IIRC, if it is over 3 hours away. Not a lot you can do about it!
