Can you elaborate as to where you heard about this forth coming system update please. I have seen no mention of it on the forums or in Humax news.

As the OP did not bother to reply I asked Humax and it was good news...............

    "Thank you for contacting Humax.
Yes, what you read is true, a major system update is planned to be rolled out in Q1/2025. We have no information to share what fixes and features it will exactly contain, but as it will be an Android update, we are hopeful that it will significantly enhance the Aura experience.
    Best Regards,
    Humax Customer Support"

    Hi Trog.
The information was given to me early last week directly from a senior Humax employee with whom I have had regular contact, I don't deal in speculation.

They said the update should take place in early new year, specifically early January, & will aim to address the freezing, blinking, crashing, home screening, losing channels, failing to record scheduled recordings, unscheduled recordings that won't stop, & other issues (both new & long occurring). I was aware this information hadn't been made fully public yet - indeed not all humax employees were aware at that time of when the rollout of the update would take place, although a few customers who have had problems had already been told by employees who did know so people were starting to be told, so I hoped sharing this information when I had chance & was able to do so would help the members of this forum who were unaware & have also experienced these issues.
Hope this helps anyone reading & bubbye now

Thanks for the additional input, That is a long list of flaws to fix so I wish them luck. In a world where rumour, hearsay and conspiracies take as much notice as truth it is always good to get info straight from the horses mouth. Sadly I doubt whether an Android update will add the features I feel are most missing from the Aura which are frame advance and slo mo but it will also be very interesting to see which features are added or improved.

That is a long list! I just hope the attempt at sorting those problems doesn't lead to more. Wouldn't surprise me if one of the broadcasters or mux owners screws something else up that needs to be corrected. Never ending fun!

Wouldn't it be great if Aura got the Android TV 14 upgrade?
Google say that Android TV 14 is supposed to improve performance over older versions of the operating system, especially for those with limited RAM. The reduction of Android TV’s RAM requirements, from 1.5GB to 1GB for 1080p devices and from 2GB to 1.5GB for 4K devices, is the first sign that the claim is true. Other performance-related improvements stated by Google for Android TV 14 include quicker boot times, improved vertical and horizontal scrolling performance, and improved app cold startup times.

What's the betting Humax don't even know about Android TV 14, let alone implement it?

I highly doubt that we would get android TV 14 as that would almost certainly require the use of the Google TV UI, I could be wrong but as far as I'm aware, the Google TV UI is not compatible with the Freeview play UI/software components as the aura an FP box. We kind of need these to work. So if the android TV version is updated and its a big if then it would likely be updated to android TV 11 or 12. if I remember correctly, Google may have relaxed the requirement to use Google TV for android TV 12 in some cases.
