    Hi Graham or anybody else,
I'd like to transfer MP3 files direct from my W10 PC to my FVP4000T.
What is this "custom firmware" please?, or any other way to do it.
    Thanks,
    Paul.

There is no Custom Firmware for the FVP4000T (only the HDR-FOX-T2 and the Foxsat-HDR). Hopefully a FVP4000T owner will be along shortly to explain how to upload mp3's and/or play from usb.

At a guess it's also possible to keep them in a shared folder on a PC and use DLNA to play them back. Windows Media Player is a DLNA server.

You will probably get a answer more quickly if this was posted in the FVP4000T threads. Owners of the box are likely to not even read a Foxsat-HDR thread.

Thanks to Barry for moving the posts to a location likely to get a answer from a 4000T owner.

    Welcome to our Forum Paul

To copy direct from PC to FVP you would have to use something like FileZilla.

Host would be the IP address of your FVP.

    Thanks Barry.

I've successfully installed FileZilla and played around with it a bit, but I've got a problem doing the actual file transfer from W10 to the F4000T. I login using Host: 192.168.1.71 / Username: admin / pwd: 0000 and get ..

    Status: Connecting to 192.168.1.71:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Insecure server, it does not support FTP over TLS.
    Status: Logged in
    Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Status: Directory listing of "/" successful

Then when I attempt the transfer I get ...

    Status: Starting upload of C:\Users\griff\Music\Glorious Victory1 633 Squadron.mp3
    Command: CWD /Music
    Response: 250 CWD command successful
    Command: TYPE I
Response: 200 Type set to I
    Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,71,128,143).
    Command: STOR 01 633 Squadron.mp3
    Response: 550 01 633 Squadron.mp3: Operation not permitted
    Error: Critical file transfer error

Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but does anybody know why the operation is not permitted?

Think Filezilla is trying to establish an encrypted session using TLS. Try an unencryped session.
