The USB port on the Humax shouldn't make a difference. I only mentioned it because I was having trouble transferring files from the 5000T to USB (very very slow). I assume that if the transfer had completed it would be the same as from the other port.

Both Food and Quest are on DVB-T multiplexes (ie. not an "HD" multiplex) so that should not be a problem. I've just done a short test on these two channels - recorded on 5000T, moved to USB, renamed .recordings folder on PC, inserted into 2000T - and both recordings play normally.

    Success!
Copied on same USB after deleting previous program.
On computer, I now had .recording & recording also. I renamed .recording & it worked on the HDR2000T
A bit of a mess on, so I will probably make most recordings on that machine. They play ok on the FVP5000T, but they don't remember where you previously viewed to, like the FVP5000T recordings do.
A bit disappointed with the new Humax. They seem to have a history of "losing" some good options. Bring the folders back Humax!

Pleased you got it to work. I can still see no reason why it didn't have sound first time around.

Sadly that is true. As the market for PVRs diminishes, I can't escape the feeling that Humax are losing interest in their current products.

Thinking about this problem again (play SD content from an FVP-5000T on an HDR-2000), the obvious solution assuming both boxes have network connections is to to use the DLNA server on the FVP.

I don't think that I have wifi on the HDR2000T. I suppose that this is what I would need.
There is nowhere in that room to hardwire it either.

You can buy a USB WiFi adapter for the HDR-2000T or you could use a pair of Powerline or Homeplug adapters.

Indeed! As I didn't know inspector's configuration I didn't suggest that. I have my Humaxes connected through a network switch to form a LAN with the computer. DLNA works reasonably well both ways.

I assume you can't play HD content from the FVP on the HDR but for the SD content that the OP uses I would guess it would be a lot less hassle than copying to USB. Do you recollect which chipsets in the USB WiFi adapter will work?

Er, no. I don't use WiFi (LAN not WLAN ).
There is at least one thread on Hummy.tv https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/connecting-hdr-1800t-to-internet.6968/post-94062 that might help.
I can't play HD content either way. It may well be possible to use the known methods to make HD content available on the 2000T. Making HD content on the 5000T available is a completely different matter (If it is possible at all - and I think it is - it is likely to be more complicated than the copying to USB).

I can play encrypted HD content from an HDR-FOX T2 on an FVP-5000T but not the other way round.
