    I have purchased a 1000s humax.
I have a foxsat at the moment.
I wish to still have access to my old recordings.
I have the custom firmware on my foxsat.

What is the best way to transfer my recordings?

    Swop hard discs?
Transfer recordings across by my network connection?
Connect my old disc drive to the 1000s, using a disc carrier via the usb?

I realise I won't be able to play any old hd recordings.

Why not just leave them on the Foxsat and when you want to watch them just use the DLNA client on the 1000S to stream them from the Foxsat. No need to connect Foxsat to TV just the LAN will do. You will notice an improvement in picture quality!

Can you explain what the DLNA client is.
I assume I won't be able to watch hd recordings?
Also can I transfer my old schedule to the 1000s using the custom firmware?

    Thanks

If you have Nowster's patch installed as well a the CF, you will be able to play HD as well as SD.
    Schedule transfer = NO. Use a camera/smartphone.

The custom firmware for the foxsat-HDR has a DLNA server package that a g2-box built in DLNA client can use to replay Foxsat-HDR recordings using your home network. I use Twonky 4 though Media Tomb is also available.

For HD recordings made without encryption you will also need the Convertfiles package. Without this the G2 box will play back the audio described audio track rather than the main audio. It will take a while to convert these. Don't bother with the backup option because it will double the space required. Never had an issue with loads of HD recordings.
