It seems you can use Diseqc on the HDR 1000S.

Getting to the hidden menu is documented elsewhere.

You pick your satellite - mine was Hotbird.

You pick the Switch Type as Diseqc B

    LNB Frequency Normal

For 22kh switch you choose On rather than Auto - I think that was where I was going wrong last time. I had left it on Auto.

Oddlly when you pick the frequency you want to scan you often get zero Strength and Quality. On the old Humax HDR you saw when you were accessing a live frequency. However, if you then choose to Scan you should find some stations.

Not a great aide memoir or guide I am afraid. But the good news is that this particular machine will pick up non FreeSat satellites if you have access to the appropriate dish(es).

Two and a bit years on.....

I had to try a factory re-set yesterday as my Humax has lost its 'on demand' facility. It did not solve the problem but that's another story.

I lost all my Hotbird settings and I can't get them back.

A poster above said "I think if you have a DiSEqC switch it is said to be seen on Factory Reset."

I did not see one and my attempts to follow the instructions I posted are not working. I wonder if more recent versions of the software do not detect DiSEqC and a second dish.

Has anyone tried to set up some alternative dish channels recently?

What did you set in the Antenna menu?

Since making that post earlier today I spoke to Humax about my machine refusing to do 'on demand' and they said it was 'faulty'.

For £110 they would repair it which would involve me getting it to them and being without a recorder for X days/weeks.

For £164 I can have a refurbished machine before noon tomorrow.

    No brainer.......

It will be interesting to see if the new machine spots the DiESqC when I install it tomorrow. I am not going to fiddle with the old machine any more. Even if I get it to work I'll still have to sort the Hotbird out again tomorrow.

So apologies for not coming back about that Antenna menu. Was there something I should have been looking out for?

It's quite a while since I looked in the Antenna menu but if it has not spotted the switch, then I would guess, it has assumed "two feeds same" rather than "two feeds different".
I think that other sub settings appear after selecting "two feeds different".

    Thanks.

The test tomorrow is whether it spots there are two feeds. My current one seems not to and I am not sure what you can do then to make it see the second one.

But not when Humax use DPD. A classic case of waiting for the doorbell to ring and being told the driver got no reply. Chumps.

The machine finally arrived at 13.05.

I have 'on demand' which was not working on the old machine.

However, I do not seem to be able to set up my Hotbird channels.

Whilst it was installing itself there was no suggestion that it had seen a second dish. When I follow the steps that I list at the top of this second page of the thread it finds nothing. In the mists of the past I seem to remember the need to do something about Manual scanning but I cannot think what.

    Any clues, anyone?

I think one of Barry's early posts on HDR-1000S mentioned that DiSEqC would be seen on install (it is a while back now).

    I did not see it.

    You mentioned Antenna.

This website rings a bell but I cannot find any way of replicating it with the current Humax.
