Varying Sound Levels

Hi, new member, just installed a HDR 1000S whichI bought on EBay and it appears to be in good condition. It's connected to a 3 year old Sony TV via a HDMI cable. Signal strength and quality is good according to the settings menu. Everything seems to work fine except that on playing back recordings the sound quality is extremely variable and I need to constantly adjust the volume.

Just wondered if this is a known problem, or is there anything I can do to correct? I've been through all the settings and can't see anything obvious to adjust.

Also which controller should I use to adjust volume - the Humax remote, or the TV one?

    Any advice much appreciated,

    Alchad

    Hi welcome to the forum.

The problem is down to the way your TV handles Dolby Digital audio which the HD channels use.

    Try the following

Settings - Picture and Sound - Digital Audio out
Change the setting from Multi-channel to stereo

Turn down the volume of your TV
Turn up the box volume using the remote to maximum
Turn up the TV volume to a normal listening level

Use the TV volume to adjust the sound.

If you do a factory reset remember to restore the box volume to max.

Many thanks, that seems to have sorted the problem.

Apologies for bad manners of not replying sooner.

    Regards
