We're finding that sound volume on non-HD channels is much lower than on HD channels. Whenever we switch to non-HD BBC1 for our local news, we have to quickly pump up the volume to be able to hear anything.

    Two questions:
    1. Is this a "feature" of satellite channels - or indeed of HD TV, which we're new to?
    2. Should we be upping the volume on our Humax 1100S or on the TV (a new Sony 32W705C), or doesn't it matter?

    Try this:

Change the audio out in picture and sound settings to stereo.

On the Humax remote set volume to full, and then control volume with TV remote.
