The two options I have used for downloading are either FTP or using the DLNA server neither of which require access to a "web control interface". Just turn on either the FTP server and/or the Network Server in the settings on the box. To download HD content without encryption you will need to convert it to a lower quality first.

http://192.168.178.52:8080
Obviously, you have to use the ip address of your own Aura.
FTP may be quicker.
