I can't think the replacement will be much different.You may be right. There are certainly similar reports elsewhere on the web, the suggestions - from the customers - being that there's a bad batch/problem type of disk out there. While I could adopt your approach I resent spending £160 for a product which has so many faults and is therefore difficult to use. A PVR, above all, must be reliable.

Did you try a reset on the "faulty" unit?Several times - see my recent post.
I would argue that for me at least using the very minor workarounds my 2000T is 100% reliable i.e. it does what it states on the tin and does so reliably. I almost forgot that mine does not like me using BBC iPlayer and will often either through me out of the portal or perform a reboot. Solution - I no longer use it as I have at least six other options for accessing BBC iPlayer. 
Just sometimes it's a case of 'better the devil you know'.
