9300T PICTURE PROBLEM

My 9300T unit has been acting up lately (missing recordings, delayed reaction to commands etc) and probably needs to be replaced. However, it is now giving real problems with displaying the picture on the TV screen. It is pixelated on the left side with a clearer but scrambled picture on the right side of the screen. This is making it impossible to reset etc as I can't see the check/selection boxes needed to give commands. I have tried switching it off at the back of the unit and all the usual restarting procedures. If anyone can tell me the cause and, hopefully, cure for this I would be very grateful. If it is not repairable (as I suspect) I'm hoping that someone can give me directions for recovering the recorded programmes, given that I can't see the screen! HELP!!!

Remove the hard disk and connect it to a PC using a drive cradle.
