    Scrolling Display
I agree with the comment made by black knight
Is there really no software solution to the scrolling display text?

I guess freesat think it is a feature.

    A software check every night?
I'd put the Foxsat back in, but we now want to be able to play third party video files through the box and of course that's unsupported.

Non native video files can be played back on a Foxsat-hdr if the required sidecar files are created using Raydons AV2HDR utility. If the custom firmware is installed , then these files can be streamed over your home network from a network storage drive or played back through one of the box usb ports.

You can get a small media player for as little as £20.00 that will play almost any file directly to your TV using a usb storage device.

The Foxsat definitely boots up every night to carry out housekeeping, one of the tasks it does is build the small chapter thumbnails and update the channel listings. Without this your epg will rapidly get out of date. See the Freesat changes thread.

My Foxsat sends me a e-mail every day on first boot after housekeeping detailing any changes to the channels.
