I like to watch my oldest recordings first, but if I halt a recording, to watch the news etc. Is there an easy way to return to what I was watching, without having to scroll down page by page?

Pause the recording, switch to the TV tuner to watch the news etc, switch back to the PVR and continue watching the recording. Works for any PVR etc.

I have a HDR-1000S on one hdmi input on my AVR and another with a FVP-5000T connected. I set up one say on BBC1. And watch watch the recording on the box it's recorded on. Pause the recording. Switch to the other and watch the local news. Switch back and release the pause.

I imagine this would work using two HDMI inputs on a TV.

I usually do what Biggles has suggested, but I also check Teletext news to see if anything of interest is coming up. My new LG TV doesn't have Teletext, the Humax has.
I'll try what SSThing has suggested.

Are you sure about the TV?
If you switch to "live TV" and BBC1 then press the red button on your remote, doesn't this bring up the text service?

This TV doesn't have Teletext. It is being phased out with the TV manufacturers. The controller doesn't have a "text" button. The "One for All" controller has a text button, but I get "this function is not available"

Apologies, you are correct. The red button opens up iPlayer (or should but it's currently not available).

Thank you SSThing! That first tip works perfectly.
