I can watch hours of live YouTube video from webcams on my Win 10 laptop with Firefox without any ad appearing. However, if I cast old Eggheads episodes from my tablet to my 5000T, I am now getting about three lots of ads in 30 minutes. This has only started in the last couple of weeks.

Is there any obvious way to stop this from happening?

I suspect that the reason this is happening is because the 5000T is not using any adblock features. Is there a way of doing that?

I disabled adblock on YouTube on the laptop and Eggheads had ads there as well, though I still didn't see any when watching ships in Portsmouth harbour.

No reason to suspect, that is the reason.
The only way to get rid of ads on the 5000t will almost certainly be to subscribe to YouTube Premium.

    OK, thanks for that.

Oh well, hopefully I will be able to avoid YouTube for Eggheads soon when the new series starts on Ch 5 (no date yet announced).

You could look into running an adblocker on your router directly, this might be a solution for all devices on your network.

Thanks, but reading that seems to mean that I would then be unable to selectively unblock on specific sites, which would also be a pain.

    Oh well, never mind.

If your TV and laptop have a screen share function, try using that instead of Chromecast. That way you will be seeing exactly the same as your laptop.

No they don't. I thought of using HDMI, but it seems a bit of a performance swapping cables around and having to have the laptop balanced precariously in an unusual place.

I went for the upgraded version (free trial for a month) and so had no ads yesterday. Might only pay for one month then cancel as I should have no further need for it by then.
