How can I ensure that when I do a factory reset I will not loose all my recordings. I have, for my sins, two Auras and I did a factory reset on one and lost all of my recordings. Help!

A Factory Reset should not delete any recordings on the HDD.
Under the Freeview Play Preferences> Factory Reset the explanation specifically says recordings will be saved.

Can we just clarify that you are referring to recordings already made on the Aura, or the Recording Schedule
which does get deleted during a Factory Reset.
To preserve your Recording Schedule use the Backup Preferences option before the reset and then use Import
    Preferences option after the reset.

If you did indeed lose your recordings, can you explain in further detail what you did prior to the Factory Reset.

Many people, including Humax, say a factory reset doesn't delete recordings. I thought I did a factory reset and my recordings vanished. They were still there but not accessible by the Humax. A third party file manager found the files and could save the SD recordings to my PC. I was unable to delete the files and, eventually, I had to reformat the disk.

Turns out I used "reset" from a different menu not "factory reset". I've not tried a proper factory reset.

I did a factory reset this week and all my recordings were still intact.
