    Also, do you have to hold down the power button on the remote till the light turns blue, or will it still come on if you just give it a quick press?

    Quick Press. It might take 20 -30 seconds before you see anything on the TV. It's booting from a very low power condition (unless it's recording at the time (less than 0.5W). If it's recording or about to record it will be much faster.

    So far luckily enough not met Arthur (74 yrs old).

    Just think of the money you are saving compared to say a Sky-HD box during the 2-30 seconds it takes to boot. A Sky-HD box uses around 60 times the amount of power compared to a G2 box when it's in sby and not actually recording anything.

    That is my understanding, which is why it uses so much power on what they laughingly call standby.

    Another is a very long EPG filled with channels you have not subscribed to and wish were not there.
