Hi everyone
Three days ago my daughter was on demand and thw box froze and would not respond. Nothing would free it! Except switching it off.
On reboot it would not respond to the remote. Unless you pressed the button repeatedly and only then it would happen very seldom.
Changed batteries. even left it with no batteries for it to decharge for half hour. Still did not work!
So I bought a new remote. Same thing there too. No response.
I've done the press ok and zero thing too.
I've checked the led on a digital camara and both remotes work????
It looks like it's the box?
Out of warranty!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas please ?

Can you check the remote and TV are using the same codeset - try resetting to codeset 1

Thanks for you reply,
I've done that I'm afraid, even had to do it agin with Humax over the phone.
They think its the box as neither my old or new remote work.
Old remote was the old style without the light up buttons and the new one is with STB button that lights up.
I just wondered if this might be a known fault??James

There are sometimes posts on this subject. General advice is don't play with the remote as soon a pictures and sound come it - I think some of the boot processes are not yet complete.
I usually press the exit button and wait for the min guide to disappear.
With the new remote the STB button must of course light up or the commands will be sent to the TV.
Last resort is the reset to default settings.

Thanks for your help.
Alas though I can't even access the menus to do a reset to default settings!!!
All my wifes recordings are on there too so I need to work a way around the encryption too.
I read that samsung allshare will download to pc using DLNA.
Sounds great but I can't get the allshare to see the Humax.
Me thinks that may be a choice in the Humax network menu!!!!!| Wed 1 Jul 2015 17:46:49 #5 | -

Sounds great but I can't get the allshare to see the Humax.Unless you can find someone who has actually done this, I would take it with a pinch of salt. Allshare won't let you copy programmes recorded to USB drive by its own TV, so I'm doubtful you could use it to copy programmes recorded to a hard drive by a Humax box.
Depending who you bought it from, it might be worth contacting the retailer.

Hi James,
Contacted Humax as thats where it came from direct.
It's out of the two year warranty by about a year so they are not interested| Wed 1 Jul 2015 18:08:30 #7 | -
Humax-the-manufacturer may no longer have any interest but Humax-the-retailer don't have that luxury. The retailer has to abide by the Sale of Goods Act, which expects products to last a reasonable time after purchase. You can get advice from Citizens Advice as to how to frame a letter. There are templates on their website, and they have a helpline.
It's good that you rang Humax and they told you it was probably the box, and you posted that in this thread.

Suggestion - try disconnecting the hard drive internally and then try a reboot. (Screws within legs). power down for 5 mins before opening case.
There is a fair chance it will boot.

Hi done that.
It boots.
As I'm a pc repair man as my second job I thought I'd tr and hook up the HDD to have a nose and may do a backup?
I would say that that HDD is knacked.
Plugged in and it wont power up at all??
Could this have caused an issue??
Ive fitted an old known working one from stock but no difference to the way the remote behaves??????James
