I have a spare hdr1000 which I can connect to the satellite. Now, I don't want it connected to the router but would like to connect it via hdmi cable to a spare pc with Windows 8.1. I can't connect direct to the monitor because there is no hdmi port on it.

    Is this possible? Thanks.

Welcome to our forum. Are you sure the PC has a HDMI input, normally it would be an output socket ? What input connections does your monitor have ?

The box will refuse to deliver video by HDMI unless the receiving port is HDCP protected, a HDMI input socket on a PC would not work as even if it had HDCP it would tell the HDR it's a recorder.

Thanks, Graham. Seemingly there is a d-sub and a dvi-d connection.

Thanks, Graham. Seemingly there is a d-sub and a dvi-d connection.

No problem then provided the DVI socket has HDCP, and the DVI socket has a stereo audio input socket associated with it.
