    my cheaper Bush freesat recorder I can play the recorded video and transfer it to my Panasonic DVD recorder , I can also press the pause button on the DVD recorder to get rid of adverts

    They all can pass low quality box composite video output to a DVD player.

    I cant see any difference in quality , in the DVD recording , and my Bush picture is as good as the Humax

    There is a significant difference between SCART output and HDMI output (The principle reason for the 2 connections).

    Your Argos/Homebase receiver if it does not offer HDMI is an SD rather than an HD receiver.
