I have even tried connecting through a VPN but the app developers block this as many use this option to connect from outside the UK.
I think it is probably caused by the Carrier grade NAT used on 4G networks. Strange that my Smart TV and PC's apps, and other options such as Roku, function normally though.

I would guess that the key difference between the Smart TV and PC apps compared to the Humax is that they connect direct to the relevant server whereas the Humax works through a gateway server operated by Humax.

The router is a DHCP server. The humax is the DHCP client.

Having the Humax DNS set to the address of the router does not make any difference. It just means it is using EE's DNS servers. I have tested this and it made no difference.

Ah! If Humax is through a gateway (proxy) server, then that is almost certainly the cause of the problem. Is there any way around this?

Thanks for all feedback so far.
