    Hi
A few days ago I got a problem with my 1000s
The box is starting up normally but blank screen when booted up
    I have

    1)unplugged box from mains overnight
    2) changed AV input on the tv.
    3)changed hdmi cable
4)Connected box by rca cable, which works but poor picture, and did a reset to factory settings

So box starts up ok but no output from hdmi but has output from rca and works normally

I am now out of ideas.

is the box gone or have I missed something.

    Thanks

Hi welcome to our forum. Only thing I can think of is try a different hdmi input on the TV and/or a different TV.

You could also try changing the digital video output resolution settings using the analogue outputs so you can see what you are doing.

    Thanks graham
unfortunately I have tried all the different hdmi inputs on the tv but no luck.
Actually even on hdmi 1 which is the autoswitch one, the tv does actually switch over to the hdmi 1 input but no picture or sound.

What do you have the ouptput resolution set to ? If 1080p try 720p and 1080i.

Can't think of anything else. Seems the digital output has had it. How old is it ? Did you register with Humax for the extended warranty ?

bought in march 2013 from john lewis.
I sent it back to john lewis in 2014 because it kept freezing.
They had referred me to humax who would not engage with me in relation to an exchange because I was in Ireland.

no major problems since till now

Just disconnected it and wired it up to another tv but still the same... oh well

Can I just ask more questions
Why is there a scart option in the picture settings when there is no scart.

As the box is 12 volt I might use it in a camper van on a 19" screen.
Would the RCA picture look better than on my 50" panny

The 1000S and 1010S does have a TV scart under the RCA outputs, guessing you have a 1100S unless you have missed it (They all share the same software hence the menu option). Your 50" TV will really show the limitations of 576i composite video. Chances are your 19" TV only has composite in anyway. If it has RGB in then that would improve the picture over composite.

    Thanks graham.
You,of course, are right. There is a scart connection under the rca outputs.
I missed it as the humax was in a tight spot under the tv and I was using a small mirror to make the connections.

Thankfully I have a hdr, with custom firmware, in a second room that will be promoted again to the main viewing box.

I am unsure as to whether I will shell out for a new freetime box for the time being.

Any new boxes on the horizon?
