I have a Humax Freesat HDR-1000S, connected to a TV via an HDMI cable. Everything has worked fine for a several years until last night when, in the middle of watching a recording, the connection dropped and the TV was unable to pick up the signal from the Humax box. A 'no signal can be detected' message appeared.
The Humax box itself still works fine; I checked it by connecting it to the TV via SCART. I have tried the following things: removing and reconnecting the HDMI lead; connecting the box with a different HDMI cable; connecting it to a different HDMI port on the TV; and power cycling both the Humax box and the TV. These attempts were all unsuccessful: the TV cannot pick up the Humax signal via HDMI.
Today I read on the Humax webpage for the HDR-1000 that 'A recent upgrade to the Humax software on Freetime recorders may have left a very small number of customers with issues connecting older televisions to their Humax Freetime box using an HDMI cable. Humax and Freesat are currently investigating.' However, the most recent sotware install on my box was August 2018 (according to the system settings), and eveything worked fine until yesterday. The box is not connected to the internet and never has been.
My question is whether there's anything I can do. Or has the HDMI connection on the Humax box failed, and I'm stuck with watching via SCART (with the poorer display quality)? I'm reluctant to try a factory reset because doing this with a (non-Humax) freeview box a few years ago just bricked the device.
Many thanks for any advice.
