Rather sad that 7 years down the road from the first Humax Freesat product (Foxsat), a stage at which you might assume they had refined the product to be almost perfect, that we are taking the piss out of the latest iteration. Think I'll pass on this one.

Really? To me it seems a bit daft, but certainly not a dealbreaker. I don't feel the need of a new sat box, but am mightily tempted by the Freeview Play recorder - regardless of the LED positioning. (https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/humax-and-freeview-play/page/3#post-39038)

It's got 2014 Nobel prize winning tech onboard, I think that is pretty cool.

I'm not feeling the need either, but I might have done if there were a really innovative, ground-breaking product on offer. This is not it. Problem with Freeview Connect/Play is that I'm in a Freeview Lite area (less than 20 channels, if you include stuff like BBC News, Parliament and CBeebies etc) so nothing attractive there either. So 1000S, three old SKY boxes and media streamers for now.

The reason for this new box does seem a little obscure. It seems clearly intended to replace the 1000S / 1010S, yet nothing new - apart from wireless and the new form factor. A bit puzzling.

    Blue LEDs? Bad for sleep.

Though I doubt if one tiny LED seen at some distance will do much damage.

Yes I did only mean blue LED's

So Red + Blue LED = Purple light = Recording (which is simple enough if you can actually see it from underneath)

I'm not that fussed about the display on the 1000s, I don't need an annoying scrolling/flashing programme name and I hardly ever look at the channel name. I found the display on my Foxsat far more useful and user friendly, like starting and extending instant recordings without needing to put the telly on.

    Currently my 1000s is.......

Red LED + hear hard drive spinning or slightly warm on top = might be Recording.

Humax could make use of the larger part of the front display instead while recording in standby and put a larger more readable Faust friendly "REC" on that !

My box is 5ft off the ground on a clear glass shelf, if I replaced it with the 1100s I guess I would see any blue light emanating from underneath.

I wonder if it can compete with the 2000T whereby I have to differentiate different shades of red to ascertain if it is simply powered down or actually recording a programme.

    Slightly different on this one:
    Red - standby
    Blue - on
    Purple 'ish' - recording
So this time you have to differentiate between blue and purple ish, if you can see it at all that is of course

The purple-ish colour is what we see when the 2000T is updating. Many of us have asked given the infrequency of updates whether the purple-ish colour would not be better utilised to show a recording is taking place.

Perhaps someone at Humax Towers has been listening - at least with regards to the latest kit. Surely this could be implemented as an update for the current 2000T?

I trust my 1000s so don't require any display. In fact display/lights when badly implemented (see 2000T) can be mighty confusing and annoying.
