No apology needed. What you say about the Showcase loading message persisting, makes me think you should ring Freesat, rather than Humax. Report the symptoms, and see what they say.

    ok, ill try that later.
Is there anything in particular you think i should say that may help them?
as i dont want to confuse them and not get anywhere. If you know what i mean?

    Thanks

USB memory would not make any difference.

When you get home I suggest you place the unit in standby for 6 or so minutes. Then bring it out of standby - wait a few minutes after you can exit from the mini-guide before you check anything else - especially on-demand or recordings. It appears to me that some boot processes execute in parallel and may not have completed when the picture is first shown.

    Points to stress:

1 - that you do see the player icons in OnDemand
2 - that the Showcase message is persisting
3 - details of your ethernet connection.
    4 - your software version

PS Try Repassac's suggestion before ringing Freesat.

just thinking and i dont want you to think im questioning you, but as i can recieve all the freesat channels ok, is it not something wrong with the software in the box rather than freesat. I dont have knowledge of how the on demand works, but assumed it was handled through the internet.

    just thinking aloud here.

    thanks

The OnDemand service is indeed an internet service. It's operated by Freesat. Previous problems of this nature have turned out to involve both the Freesat servers and the Humax software, but Freesat is the best place to start (IMO)

    Hi all,

no joy im afraid. i tried leaving it off for a while and then gave it time to boot up before changing channel and still the same.

I spoke to freesat who cant help as they are not aware of any problems.

is firmware 2.02.09 the latest firmware? thats the one i have on the system. When i factory reset the box it now always starts with that firmware loaded on if that makes any difference?

I dont know what it could be. any other thoughts before i think about sending this back? Could it be faulty?

    Thanks
    ben
