I realise this thread is somewhat stale, but this problem has not gone away, and the issue with the FVP 5000T, and others, remains.
Following the suggestions on this forum, I have reduced the 220+ Freeview channels on my Humax box to under 80, and this has improved the ability of the device to show programme information, especially that for future programmes which was often 'not available' no matter what steps I took.

I asked Humax in the UK for their suggestions, and they said that this is now their suggestion when this problem is encountered. They also confirmed that the FVP5000T is capable of holding at least 200 channel epg information, but suggested this could be reduced due to 'some signal issues'.

What I find particularly frustrating is that my relatively elderly Panasonic EX97 , which is NOT connected to the net, but relies solely on aerial signal information, is quite capable of storing all epg information on all available Freeview channels, despite being fed by the same aerial, and has NEVER shown the 'information not available'message. Perhaps I should experiment , retune my Humax, and then disonnect the device from the net?!

Firstly I'm disappointed with Humax who have not served it's customers very well with the FVP 4000T and 5000T machines but that is another matter. I won't touch any other product from Humax ever again because I feel they've let me down - but that's just me. I have both of my machines (no thanks to Humax) running OK and mostly populating the EPGs apart from channel 4 and 5 occasionally, which I've reluctantly decided I'll have to live with. I achieved that by getting rid of all the received channels I don't use, including the radio channels. I hate wasting time doing stuff to make equipment do what its supposed to when it should just work properly in the first place. while they are working I don't want to mess with either machine because naffing about retuning then deleting channels is a bore. If you disconnect the internet from your 5000T you will lose your streaming capability on your 5000T definitely. You might not need it to watch catch up if you have a firestick or a smart TV, in which case there would be no real loss. Whether the EPG will update at all and if it will populate better without a network connection - I don't know but it's fairly painless to find out. You might find that you get some annoying messages telling you the internet connection has failed but that might be a small price to get the EPG better. Regards the EPG holding 200 channels, well lets just say that isn't my experience. It might well be that the software on your Panasonic hasn't got some arbitrary limit set on the information that it's EPG can hold whereas the Humax has? Who knows, what you can be sure of is that Humax isn't going to help with a software update, it would rather lose customers than spend the money and you can bet that someone will have done that risk assessment before making that decision.
